Natural Food in Dallas

If you are anywhere within a 25 mile radius of Dallas, this is a place you must check out! While on a road trip, my husband and I were looking for primal eats and luckily found Origin. Not only are they a craft coffee shop and café but they also have paleo meals to go. Yes! Paleo! I'm not talking about something that will pass as a semi-solution. These meals are made with organic, pastured, grass-fed AND local ingredients. That also means (I know you know this) dairy-free, grain-free, gluten-free and most importantly worry-free! Needless to say, we were there more than once in our 3 days passing through. We stocked up on meals to get us to our next destination and every bite was awesome.

All I can say is: We as a primal/paleo community need to rally around places like this and hope they appear in a city near us. Like them on Facebook. I do.

Pastured Pulled Pork in Pennsylvania

The BrewWorks seemed to only have a 100% grass-fed burger. Then I stumbled upon this: "Berks County pasture-raised, all-natural heritage pork. Slow roasted for over six hours, hand-pulled and slathered with Stout BBQ sauce." That sounds awesome to me! They also have organic and local ingredients dotting the menu. The pork comes from Countrytime Farm and you can see where the rest of their ingredients come from here. Upon further inspection, I see that some of their ground beef comes from a grain fed source. I'm not sure if that is a change that was not reflected on the menu, but definitely ask twice before ordering.

They have three separate locations:

Fine Dining
Emmer & Rye has links on their menu to tell you exactly which local farm or market the ingredients came from. "In 2010, Caswell opened emmer&rye in a restored Victorian house on the top of Queen Anne Hill to further his vision of "locally derived, seasonally inspired" cuisine. Here, Caswell creates dishes that showcase the best ingredients the Pacific Northwest has to offer."

Thanks Ryan! This is a great find.

Seasonal/Sustainable/Farm Fresh

This place looks amazing! Thanks Tricia!

John J. Jeffries sounds like exactly what a strict primal would want. "All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs. Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs.
We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries and their communities." Their coffee is even organic fair trade and they use reverse osmosis to filter the water. Not to mention that the menu looks amazing!

Atlanta, Georgia

Amazing burger selection for primal eaters!

ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Fine Dining
Flip Burger Boutique is a burger joint and a fancy one at that. They have a few locations and offer an amazing grass-fed beef burger as well as other fresh local ingredients. This is probably the priciest burger I've had, but it is worth it.

Quick Bites
Yeah Burger is awesome! I wish there were more of them. They offer grass-fed bison and grass-fed beef, organic ingredients... I will let them speak for themselves: "We proudly use natural and organic ingredients that are free of antibiotics, growth hormones, synthetic pesticides and herbicides, chemical fertilizers, ammonia and other nasty additives. All of our food is cooked-to-order, so please be patient." It takes more time to decide what to order than it does to get your food. Lucky you if you are passing through and can pick something up from here!
Farm Burger is another place I can vouch for. Excellent quality and creativity! You can also order cured lardo to put on your 100% grass-fed burger.... that's right. "Our burgers are made from 100% grassfed beef that is dry-aged and ground fresh. Our cows are raised on the sweet grasses of the southeast, and never fed antibiotics, hormones, or grain. Our menu is seasonal and sourced from local farms."

Charlottesville, Virginia

Burger bars are great because they are really starting to offer high quality meat. Adam told us about one in Virginia that is close to the University.

Boylan Heights is a gourmet burger bar that offers "the finest organic beef from Virginia farms supplied by The Organic Butcher, located right in Charlottesville. The meat is dry aged to further deepen the flavor and our beef is fresh ground daily. It is naturally raised Angus, hormone and anti-biotic free, grass fed and most importantly … healthy."

You can even get a burger in a bowl.
Thanks for the tip Adam.

Hitting the road...

I am getting ready to drive 2/3 the way across the country and need to satiate my primal appetite.
Like so many other primal travelers, I have a really difficult time finding food that is 100% grass-fed, pastured, organic, farm-fresh and/or just plain free of chemicals. There has got to be an easier way than skipping meals.

Please help primal/paleo travelers by letting us know what resources are in your city and state or a place where you were able to find the food we crave!

We need:
-Detailed reviews and/or menu suggestions
-Shopping locations
-Snack suggestions

Leave the info in the comments or email me directly and I will do a post based on the information.
THANKS!
